Rate Analysis

Item-by-item build-ups from first principles — labour output, material wastage, plant hours, lead and lift, overhead and profit — referenced to the applicable district rate and departmental norms.

Overview

Why this matters on your contract

A rate is a claim about how much work a crew does in a day, how much material is wasted, how far it must be carried and what the plant costs to stand idle. When an evaluator or auditor asks how a figure was reached, the answer must be a build-up — not a recollection.

We produce rate analyses from first principles, referenced to the applicable district rate schedule and the relevant departmental norms, with every component visible and adjustable. When a market price moves or a lead distance changes, the rate updates rather than being re-guessed. In twelve years no rate build-up we have submitted has been rejected on technical grounds during evaluation.

Scope

What the service includes

Every element below is covered as standard. Anything outside it is quoted separately and agreed before we begin.

First-principles item build-up

Labour, material, plant, lead and lift, overhead and profit built up per item and shown component by component.

District rate referencing

Every component tied to the applicable district rate schedule for the project location and the current fiscal year.

Norm compliance

Output rates and material consumption referenced to departmental norms, with any deviation stated and justified.

Lead and lift computation

Haulage distance, terrain factor and vertical lift computed against the actual quarry, source and site conditions.

Plant and equipment costing

Hourly owning and operating costs including fuel, operator, maintenance and idle allowance.

Market rate verification

Current local material and labour prices verified against the schedule so the analysis reflects reality, not last year's book.

Our Approach

How we do this differently

01

Every figure is traceable

Open any cell and the source is visible. Nothing is typed in as a number without a build-up behind it.

02

Formula-driven, so it updates

Change a cement price or a lead distance and every affected rate recalculates. You are never re-doing the analysis from scratch.

03

Built to be challenged

The build-ups are structured for the questions evaluators actually ask, which is why they so rarely get asked twice.

Yes. Rates are location-specific, and using the wrong district schedule is a common and expensive error. We confirm the applicable district and fiscal year schedule before beginning.

Yes. We build it from constituent operations, state the derivation explicitly, and present the justification in the format an evaluator expects. Non-standard items are where a defensible build-up matters most.

Entirely. The formula-driven file is handed over so your team can reuse and update it. We do not deliver locked or values-only spreadsheets.
