Quantities & Cost
Order-of-magnitude estimates at concept, detailed estimates at tender, and cost-to-complete forecasts during execution — each with assumptions and exclusions stated openly.
Overview
An estimate without stated assumptions is not an estimate, it is a number. The value of a cost figure lies almost entirely in knowing what it includes, what it excludes, what it assumes about scope and market conditions, and how much contingency sits inside it.
We produce estimates at whatever definition the project has reached — from concept, where the answer is a range with clear drivers, to a fully measured tender estimate. During execution we maintain cost-to-complete forecasts so that overruns are identified while there is still time to respond, rather than discovered in the final account.
Scope
Every element below is covered as standard. Anything outside it is quoted separately and agreed before we begin.
Early-stage cost ranges built from comparable projects and elemental rates, with the principal cost drivers identified.
Fully measured estimates built from drawings, quantities and analysed rates, item by item.
Site establishment, supervision, plant standing, insurance, bonds and overhead built up explicitly rather than applied as a blanket percentage.
Periodic forecast of final cost based on actual expenditure, committed cost and remaining work.
Systematic review of high-cost elements for alternatives that preserve function while reducing cost, each option quantified.
Side-by-side costing of design or method alternatives so decisions are made on numbers rather than intuition.
Our Approach
01
Every estimate is accompanied by a basis document. Six months later, nobody has to reconstruct what the number meant.
02
You can see exactly how much risk allowance sits in the figure, which means you can make an informed decision about carrying it.
03
Cost-to-complete is updated on a fixed cycle, so an emerging overrun surfaces with time left to act on it.

A bidding document, a contract, a stalled bill, a stack of unrecorded measurements — whatever the position, a senior engineer will review it and come back within one working day with a written assessment, a timeline and a fixed price. There is no charge for this and nothing to sign.
